The sound of the party faded as his cold eyes kept me captive
“I just want you to be you. You don’t have to act in any way to please me, because when you’re being yourself, you already do.”
“You’re light, but you crave the dark. You crave me.”
His enchantment had worked its way inside me, lulling me
“He spoke for you, but your voice was the only one I needed to hear. The sun doesn’t reduce its heat to assuage the frigid moon.”
Even though I was freed some part of me was still bound to him
It was everything I wanted it to be. It almost felt like Celia Aaron wrote this book specially for me. It’s definitely dark but to me, an avid romance reader (dark and light) I found it funny and heartfelt. The writing felt faced paced and it takes no time getting to it. We meet Camille, a science teacher (get ready for the plant facts) at a fancy work function with her current boyfriend LinkBOOOOOO where she meets Sebastian (totally sexy billionaire who happens to be her loser bf’s boss)
He is infatuated with her instantly and she while slower on the take, is very interested in him. Maybe insta-lovey? If it is, I love that sort of thing. If you like a dark mmc that is also somehow obsessively adorable and would do anything to get his girl to smile, that’s Sebastian. He’s definitely complicated and flawed, but his perspective and transformation was a treat to experience. His psychopathology and understanding of emotions was super interesting to me. No matter his strangeness, there was this way about him that was refreshing in his efforts and understandings. Both characters felt like real beautiful people who I am so happy got their happy ending. I just love this book so much. Despite some dark themes and some smutty scenes… I found this book adorable and I was kicking my feet so many times with the giggles. Sebastian has won a top spot in the ranks of my book boyfriends. He’s crazy but a cinnamon roll for his damsel. Groveling was beautiful as well he just paid attention to her so well I ate it up!!!
