3.0

I honestly didn’t like this one too much. The characters lacked a bit of chemistry and the main character, Samantha, was a little too… how shall I put this?… too much of a wishy washy person and I couldn’t get behind her.

I wanted to support this couple. I wanted Jack and Samantha to have their happily ever after. But neither Jack nor Samantha wanted to help me believe in them. Sure it’s the second novel in a series. But it says that it should stand on it’s own. It says that each book can be read as a stand-alone.

That was false.

This book relied way too heavily on explanations of former flames and glimpses into the past. Samantha and Jack have supposedly known each other since high school. And they live in a small town where everyone knows everyone. So it stands to reason that they would have done some stuff together. But there was no memories nor mention of “Oh remember that time” or anything like that. Jack was kind of off putting and only showed interest when there was competition. There was barely any interest shown. The small bits of interest shown were minuscule.

Samantha was upsetting to me. She had self confidence issues, which, fine I mean I have them too. Most everyone does. But this one was not good. She kept regressing and wouldn’t turn to her friends. I don’t know.

I just felt like maybe Samantha, if she had accepted her friends as her family, then she should have talked to them about everything.
