This was the fun conclusion to the Dangerous Damsels series and I enjoyed it as much as the others.
The secret service agents are Alice Dearlove and Daniel Bixby, who we met in previous books.
The premise of these stories is hilarious. But India Holton also adds enough depth and drama to keep us interested and entertained.
I read parts of this with audio and part of it digitally
Things I liked:
Things I liked:
- Very whimsical and fun. The humor was interesting.
- Very different than anything I have ever read.
- Daniel and Alice were adorable.
- I really liked the friendships that were formed as well.
Things I didn’t like:
- I wish we got more information about Alice’s background. It was alluded to but never explained.
- The ending was a bit drawn out, but I did appreciate the epilogue.
Another book I kind of have mixed feelings about. It took me a very long time to finish this novel. I was interested, just not at the "need to be reading it all the time" level I'm usually at. I found the novel to be just fine.
I wasn't really into Alice's character and found that her POV dominated the book. Daniel's character was much more endearing, but there wasn't much from his viewpoint. I also have felt that Holton's writing (in the past and with this novel) sometimes doesn't make sense. I have to re-read sentences or paragraphs several times to try and understand what is being said, and sometimes it just doesn't make sense either in the context or because context is missing. While it isn't overwhelming, it does happen occasionally, and it is frustrating as a reader. I liked the nods to other novels and beginning/famous sentences, but sometimes they did feel forced.
I really liked the first novel in this series as well as the second (though not as much as the first) and felt like this was just okay in comparison to the Wicken League. I'll continue to read Holton's works since they are enjoyable.

2.5 rounded down. This book was purely average to me. I will say it’s the first of the series I’ve read and maybe I would have felt differently if I read the other two first but they’re standalone so I didn’t think it should matter.
It felt like it was trying too hard to be funny and witty. Most of the jokes were flat to me and it didn’t make a lot of sense how Alice, an avid reader, doesn’t understand idioms or any level of sarcasm.
The books over 300 pages but nothing happens plot wise?! It seems like it was all fluff and filler. The twist felt like it was out of left field and thrown in at random. We, as readers, had no reason to believe that person would succeed in their task. What?
I did like Daniel and Alice’s relationship. I do enjoy a good enemies to lovers trope but, it seemed like they were just feeling guilty going against A.U.N.T.’s regulations rather than them actually being enemies.
Will I still read the other two? Most likely, I’m hoping it fills in some gaps about the world. Why are these women pirates so feared when all they do is drink tea and play weird parlor games?
