Loved it. Is this a perfect book? No. Is it a madcap caper filled with characters that are lovable, interesting, and that you spend the entire time rooting for? YES.

I really enjoyed the finale to this three-book series. I'm happy it ended here as well - I don't need the histories or other backstories for our myriad of side characters. The ones chosen by India Holton were perfection. Each woman and her partner featured in these three books were different, and had rich and troubling backstories that added a richness to the books that wasn't immediately apparent. The language is madcap. I can't think of a better word for how the prose seems to skid around my brain doing cartwheels, yet somehow still making sense.

Alice and Daniel - what can I say, I love them. Their little tics and mannerisms (and for some, the sad way in which they got them - I also want to burn the switches of the academy tutors Alice!), their growth and deep abiding love for each other. It was so sweet to read, and experience it.

Now I need to go back and re-read the entire trilogy. Perhaps even obtain copies for my bookshelf.

I wanted to love this so much, I flew through the previous book in the series and hit a reading slump when I started this one

DID NOT FINISH: 26%

It’s fine. The first few pages were whimsical and fun but the plot quickly stunted despite that we’re showing up to a pirates house in a flying house. The writing style is really dry with sprinkles of dry humor which is not for me.

It should be noter that romance is not my preferred genre but I venture out every now and then to see if one hooks me. I will say, I think this would be a delightful movie.

I am glad I listened to the previous two books in this series, as other characters reappear in this one. The storyline was fun, the Daniel and Alice banter was extremely witty, and the interactions with the pirates was hilarious.

I really can't get over how clever India Holton is to create this world, the character dynamics, and the dialogue. The narration also added a lot to the story and made it so much easier to imagine all of the scenes.
