“Love means never having to say you’re sorry.”

Been almost a decade since I’ve read this book and every time, it still made me drop a tear or two. I remember ugly crying when I first read this short story but since I knew what was going to happen, I only cried a few.

Oliver and Jenny is the type of couple you get jealous of. They banter but still respect and care for one another. They gave up their hopes and dreams for the sake of the other. Unfortunately, the ending had to be that way. I love Jenny ever since she and Ollie first bantered, which was when they first met. My heart broke together with Ollie’s when the doctor said that she’s dying. Why Jenny of all people? She doesn’t deserve it. But technically, no one does.

This book is so widely praised that I was expecting much more. Perhaps it is the movie that is actually lauded and I did see that the book was more a novelization of the screenplay than a novel in its own right. This was mediocre twaddle.
