Started March 24th, 2013 just after finishing the short novella (50-60 pages) Madonna and Corpse by the same author-team.
Great! If you read both books, be sure to read "Madonna and Corpse" first, that is the correct order.
A hint of "Da Vinci Code", but not as complicated and more real. Great twists at the end, I did not see that coming, other twists where signalled long before. A real good series, from the team, this is imho the best book in the series.
Recommended to readers of Kathy Reichs-Bones-Series, and due to the theme, readers of Dan Brown.
Beware: the book is also available under the title "Bones of Avignion" (licensing issues?).

A Da Vinci code knock off. Some characters and plot and events taken right from the other book (which is referenced within!), not cool and the other book was more detailed and filled out not the shallow things they are in this novel. Lots of repetitive word for word information from previous books. Also lots of inconsistencies from one book to the next character wise. Dr. Garcia was prominent in book 5, not mentioned in book 6 and now he is (sounds like/we are made to think) back at work not long after having lost/amputated both hands and then replacement surgery with new hands? And Isabella who was pregnant with his baby who wasn't mentioned in the last book and was on the run he didn't know where in the one before that and now all of a sudden he says that she died in Japan in the tsunami of 2011? How does he know this? They found her or she contacted him the died? She died and they found her body? And we didn't hear about this and his feelings about this? Also I get that because of his job and past Dr. Brocton helps the police but this is in a foreign country with no one he knows and no references and the police are turning to him for help? Hey this case is hard so lest involve this smart guy we know nothing about that is somehow connected to our case. He was or is in danger? Fine, that is what he is all the time, guy can never catch a break he is threatened and almost dies every couple of months so he can handle it. And for a BODY FARM novel this had no body farm action or events or even experiments. The time line jumps back and fourth from the present and the 1300's which for a small part or two is good but half of it is unnecessary and doesn't really add much to the story, it's just like Mr. Jefferson and Mr. Bass needed to fill a page quota.

Miranda, I used to like Miranda now I hate her, she went from strong, smart, independent, mature and sane to a weak, half-brained teenager who is an mess and used as comic relief. Also now she loves Dr. Brockton and he all of a sudden loves her. She was his student, is his assistant and is the age of his son or slightly younger. Run Miranda run!

Also I have read enough of this series by now to notice that Mr. Jefferson and Mr. Bass don't think to highly of women, mostly intelligent women. A woman must be simple and if she is not she is a villain or has such low self esteem that Dr. Brockton must always be there to bluster her up or they just kill her off. Every woman is somehow emotionally scarred and if she stick around long enough is presented as a mess of a person during any cases. Also Dr. Brockton is getting kinda skeevy.

Not sure if I will continue the series it's getting tedious and the characters annoying and the plots too unbelievable for the real life they are supposed to portray.

Could have lived without the superstitious bones throughout the book, read it more because I started it than I enjoyed it.

While the historical aspects were interesting, this book didn't capture my attention like the previous ones in the series.

This was my second time through. Enjoyed the historical bits, but the present day stuff just got out of hand with one too many twists and implausibilities.
