I would vote this book 3 stars if it were more believable. It was very good in the first half and then infuriating in the second. The hero/heroine drive me crazy for reasons that are spoilery. This book didn't make me laugh like other books have either.

What I really thought...
Spoiler
I don't understand how Penelope could so easily forgive and forget that she was outted as a "slut" by the Earl in front of society after breaking their engagement. Then the solution was a fairy godmother saying she'd fix all of society by telling everyone there were extenuating circumstances. Society wouldn't ever forget that Penelope was a fallen woman, regardless that she was eventually married to the man. He doesn't beg for forgiveness once. Penelope must be an exceedingly stupid girl to think all is well and good. We are then left hanging about whether or not Penelope is pregnant after being hinted at. Instead of the last chapter being about them talking about all that has happened and apologies that are in order (and seeing if the Earl is excited about possibly having a child on the way), it's all about them being eager to get into each other's pants and getting married ASAP. Just unsatisfying.

I don't really have much to say about this one other than it's pretty much exactly what one would expect from Marion Chesney. The spy angle made it slightly different than most of Chesney's other romances, but the structure was still the same.

This one had a lot of good laughs, if not extremely memorable.
