This was a delightful read - laugh out loud funny at parts (seriously, the ending scene is worthy of some high level Shakespeare farce). I do enjoy the fake romance trope, though this one drags it out a bit too far using one of my least favorite plot devices, miscommunication. It was close to reaching the end of my tolerance for that plot device but the author seemed to have a good idea of when her audience would require a resolution. Hugh and Minerva are fun to watch as they try not to fall in love while pretending to be in love at a county house party full of meddlesome family, friends and guests with one disastrous event after another. A fast and fun read!

i think the book was realllllly draggy especially in the beginning and i did not enjoy hugh being a pompous bitch with his saviour complex (i get it is a historical romance but still) and the miscommunication. oh. my. god. spare me. and the conflict is kinda dumb (but i guess reasonable to an extent)
it started getting good towards the end as far as romance goes and i thought some parts were cute and they have sex scenes which was pretty good
think historical romance is just not for me (update: not true i've read other historical romance and they were good this one was just not it)
wish that were me meter: 3/5
sun snu meter: 3.5/5
overall: 2.5/5
there are better historical romance books out there

📝 A fun lil regency romp. A bit comedy of errors as the MCs try to navigate the farce that they are engaged to convince MMC's mother. Hijinks ensue. MCs fall in love. The usual.
🎧 Dual POV, male and female narrators. They were both good. There was one side character who is American, and the female narrator's American accent was pretty atrocious, but other than that (and the American doesn't speak all that much so it's easy to put aside), the performance was great on both parts.
🌶️ 2/5 There were two ardent kissing scenes and one sex scene but it was pretty tame.
✊🏳️🌈 No diversity to speak of, unless we count class diversity.
