Zachary and Izzy are found together in the blue room at a ball, so they must marry. He’s a rake and she’s odd with her interest in history. I like how they support each other throughout, but forced marriage isn’t my favorite trope even if this one isn’t truly forced.

Another hit from Scarlett!

What a lovely read this was - great story of Izzy and Zachary. "For everyone in need of a happily ever after" this is the one for you. For Scarlett doesn't only bring you the love and heat you'd expect from her writing, but also just that, a happy ending.

I enjoyed this book. Isolde and Zachary were a wonderful couple that made this book a delight to read. A solid book with an interesting plot. I find Scarlett Scott to be a great historical romance author. I am looking forward to the next book in this series.

Daring, bold and brazen. The three best descriptors for Isolde Collingwood. After her betrothed leaves her for an American heiress, she is left heartbroken. She turns to one too many glasses of champagne at a ball, and finds herself in a salon with a renowned rake. What’s a girl to do, but kiss him. The next thing she knows, she is seemingly compromised and now engaged to the Earl of Anglesey. Their passion and attraction becomes obvious from an early start, but the road to matrimony is a treacherous, rocky trail. This story is wrought with angst, leaving you shouting at the page to move past their own pride and misconceptions. Having been heartbroken himself in the past, Zachary is just as reluctant to believe his heart as Izzy is. This tale is a wild ride with many wonderful ups & downs and surprising twists & turns. But on the end, love wins out!

This is a 4.5 book.

I am the biggest Scarlett Scott fan. If you all read the previous book in the Unexpected Lords series, you meet the hero and heroine of this book. Lady Isolde was previously engaged. She is so heartbroken. She flings herself into a scandal which leads her to get compromised. Newly Lord Zachary has lived a life of a playboy. However, he was drawn to Lady Izzy and wanted to move forward with this marriage. This requires a lot of convincing from Lord Zachary. Steamy scene to see their compatibility. Throughout this book, you learn if Zachary's past interferes with his courtship of Izzy.

I definitely enjoyed this book. It is quite a sensual book. Very in line with the previous book. I always will pick up Miss Scarlett Scott.

I loved the first book in this series, The Detective Duke, so I was really hyped for this one and it didn't disappoint! Our hero Zachary, never expected to inherit the earldom as the third son, but after both of his older brothers died on a yachting accident, he finds himself an Earl. Lady Isolde Collingwood, the sister of the heroine from book one, has been jilted. Embarrassed and publicly shamed, she gets far too drunk at a ball and ends up in a compromising situation with the new Earl. Which leads toooooooo......a marriage of convenience, my absolute crack.

I loved Zachary. He's spend his life as an outsider in his own family and never expected to be handed the responsibility of running an Earldom as a third son. But he really battles his self-doubt to do the right thing. I really love that he sort of falls first! He definitely could have gotten out of the situation with Izzy if he tried hard enough but he's just like "meh, let's see where it goes". Isolde was really heartbreaking to read about. She's spent years planning her marriage to what she thinks is the love of her life, only to be thrown over for an American heiress. She's so reluctant to love Zach and I didn't blame her!

I will say I wish that Zachary had thrown his sister in law to the curb earlier in the book. She deserved none of his help or consideration. Even though his goal was revenge, it still irked me just enough to dock half a star. I docked another half because Isolde took too long to listen to what Zachary had to say after the big whoopsie he found himself in. Otherwise, a really solid read. I love Scarlett's books!

From the casual observer one could conclude that Zachary Barlowe, Earl of Anglesey, is a consummate rake and deliciously handsome bad boy; especially when lying atop him while inebriated and disrupting his assignation with another lady. With a meet cute that is equally awkward and hilarious, Zachary and Izzy literally collide into ruin and a marriage of convenience.

But there is more than meets the eye when Izzy gets to know the kind man that is Zachary, and Zachary gets to know the outrageously dressed, and lovable Izzy.

Scarlett Scott spectacularly crafts endearing characters who fall into an extraordinary love as they walk through challenging trials and reveal a deeper connection through sweet and incendiary intimacy. What ensues is a journey of two people finding their way through the shields they have erected from heartbreak, and rediscovering a love that surpasses all that came before.

Thank you Scarlett Scott for an advanced copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Lady Isolde is heartbroken: she’s been jilted by her fiancé a few weeks before their wedding. One night at a ball, having drunk too much and with revenge in mind, she’s caught in a very compromising position with an handsome rogue. Marriage is inevitable, but she’s determined not to let her heart be broken again…
Zachary has lived his life as he pleased until he unexpectedly inherited the earldom by his dead brother. Now he’s struggling with his new life and being compromised by a bold, beautiful and very drunk woman is not helping matters at all…
Surprisingly since I follow her everywhere and I enjoy her wit on social media, I had never read a book by Scarlett Scott before. And now I regret it bitterly, because I’m besotted with her writing! It’s witty, it’s emotional, it’s romantic, it’s everything I could have hoped for. And in this case with the added bonus of my favorite trope, marriage of convenience, even if with a clever twist to it. I loved both characters, but I fell in love with Zachary from the very beginning. He’s the type of hero I adore, a charming rake who thinks he can never love again because of a bad experience in his past. It’s always a pleasure to see them change their minds! And the author developed both tropes masterfully. I’m definitely going to read a lot more of her in the future!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
