I really enjoyed the writing in this one. I found that it was a little bit slow, and big things weren’t really happening until about 75% of the way through. But the story was intriguing and it was a good read.

All of the men are trash. And what is this authors gripe with people of the Caribbean? Anyways, this’ll be my last time reading this author.
It had me hooked from the beginning. I wanted her to speak and for us to figure out why she chose not to. Then BAM, she talks. That’s when it all went downhill. First off, why wouldn’t the cops have seen that she was tied up too and where the heck did the rope to tie up multiple people come from? The twist was fun but it felt rushed after that. When the police came to talk to Theo, I thought “yes, he’s caught and we can watch his downfall”. Then it ends. It just ends. I’m unsatisfied and mad. It’s like I had a really good sneeze coming on and someone started talking and ruined it

بخشی از داستان از روان‌درمانگری به اسم تئو روایت میشه و بخش دیگرش مربوط به نوشته‌های آلیسیا هست که درمانش رو تئو به عهده داشته.
آلیسیا که نقاش هست همسرش گابریل رو می‌کشه و بعد از اون برای مدتی خاموش میشه و حرفی نمی‌زنه. تئو به‌دنبال این هست تا آلیس رو درمان کنه.
در طول درمان آلیسیا، اتفاق‌های مختلفی می‌افته که خواننده رو مدام به دنبال خودش می‌کشه تا متوجه اون‌ها بشه. در ادامه داستان، پیچیدگی‌ها بیشتر میشه، خواننده فکر می‌کنه تونسته معما رو حل کنه ولی در نهایت همه چی عوض میشه.
متن کتاب روان بود و سریع پیش می‌رفت و نویسنده شخصیت‌های اصلی رو خوب توضیح داده بود.
تئو و آلیسیا شبیه هم هستن و هر دو در بچگی مشکلاتی با پدرشون داشتن، البته تئو برای مواجهه با اون‌ها پیش درمانگری به اسم روت می‌رفت و آلیسیا دنبال درمانی نبود، ممکنه علتش شدت اتفاق‌هایی باشه که براش افتاده.
با خوندن کتاب متوجه شدم تجربیاتی که در کودکی داشتیم نقش مهمی در زندگی ما دارند، اگه بخواییم زندگی بهتری داشته باشیم بهتره با اون‌ها کنار بیاییم، هر چند خاطرات خیلی تلخی برامون باشن.
بنظرم روت، تئو رو خوب و حتی بهتر از خودش شناخته بود و وقتی به تئو گفت نمی‌تونه با کتی زندگی کنه و اون قبول نکرد باعث شد مسائل بعدی براش پیش بیاد.
