I’m noticing a trend in romance books lately where the guy will do something, give an apology or make a grand gesture, and then the mfc will think to herself “he’s so reliable and I know he’ll always be by my side, blah blah blah.” He hasn’t proven it yet but somehow she is just so sure. Even though the whole conflict and third act break up was about how he ditched her. That was this book. Reid had a one track mind for sex, and that was kind of shallow and didn’t lend itself to the reliable mfc that Eve has blind faith that he is. She makes Reid work to earn her forgiveness, but when her brother is an absolute giant douche canoe he just says sorry and gives her a hug and all is well. The scene where they work it out is all about the guys and Eve doesn’t even get to be angry. wtf? Did she just forget?

Meghan Quinn books can be fun but they’re frequently so problematic that I end up not enjoying them as much as I hoped.

First of all, I love these books! I laughed so much when Eve kept blaming Reid’s brothers for every problem he created just because they were family! She is definitely one of my favorites female characters. She’s strong, independent and knows what she deserves. I loved her! Reid was a little immature but usually the guys are like that. I liked this book and I’m giving it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ stars.

3-3.5 stars.
#3 in the getting lucky series did not do it for me. I did like not either character or the conflict that was presented. It felt like it could have been resolved with a single conversation. Stars are mainly for the series as I enjoyed the small town love story.

I am chastising myself for not reading this sooner! My first Meghan Quinn book and it definitely won't be my last.

Meghan's writing is witty, fun, light-hearted and heartwarming. I laughed, I got emotional and I could not put this down. Did Reid get on my nerves? Yes. But good on Eve for standing her ground. Was the last scene super corny? Yes. But it's those moments that make me love rom-coms.

I love this small-town series and I definitely cannot wait to read Brig's story because he just cracked me up!

Fun read

I really liked this book and learning more about Reid. He might be my favorite brother - I do feel like he had the farthest to come and the most to learn. Also...those sibling texts are the greatest! As someone who shares group texts with my siblings - they are spot on. Nobody but a sibling can tease you or support you or call you out during a short text like a sibling can. They were my favorite parts of the book. Always left me laughing.

Story: 8/10
Spice:2/5
Spice Hierarchy: open door/spicy
Narration: 4/5

Reid and Eve have been in each other’s lives for a long time. Eve’s twin brother is best friends with Reid. Until Reid and Eric’s business venture crashes. Years later while Reid has gone back home, he is still friends with Eve. Reid is granted the opportunity of a lifetime: work with his best friend again, manage a restaurant with his girlfriend, and make his dreams come true. But only 2 of those 3 are possible (so he thinks) and Reid has to decide which one he is willing to let go.

They have both had a crush on the other for years but have held back from letting it go anywhere. Their present relationship is so easy. It’s their past that gets in Reid’s way.

Reid is so lost as a man. He doesn’t know who he is or what he wants. And that makes it hard for him to put into words or actions how he feels about Eve. If Reid thinks it, he says it. And he is full of sexual innuendos that had me laughing so hard. There were so many moments that I could relate to Reid for this. Eve is so strong. She continues to push through and persevere given everything life has thrown her way.

FINALLY! The first two books in this series were the level of quality that you would expect from Meghan Quinn, but weren't as lighthearted and fun as I would prefer. Reid is a sarcastic ass and I love it! My favorite parts were probably the interactions between Reid and Brig - those two are hilarious together. Eve is pretty badass too.

Compared to the rest of the series: This book and the fourth have more humor than the first two. The first two books have a lot of conflict/tension before the couple gets together, the third and fourth books don't have that much conflict/tension. This one is the steamiest of the entire series. The fourth book is a slow burn.
