The story was engaging and completely eye-opening. I laughed, I got verbally annoyed and upset throughout the novel. I feel like I learned so much about disabilities, and I adored Lou's character development. However, it's a slow burn that I thought had small (yet very adorable) moments and was suddenly defined as love. It makes sense within the storyline, but I found it hard to connect emotionally with the characters. Also found the chapters were too long. Despite that, I enjoyed this, and it's a beautiful yet illuminating story.

Stupid book broke my dang heart. I cried real tears. To be fair, I felt a full range of emotions while reading, from laughter to anger to hope to thoughtfulness to heartbreak, and I haven’t been so emotionally moved by a story in a while. I couldn’t put it down. I’m late to Jojo Moyes (and if all her books will break my heart I’ll be taking my time reading more) but I was surprised at how easily I fell into her world and got invested in her characters. I will certainly be reading more of her work in the future (after I have emotionally recovered from this one).

I went into this expecting a cheesy romance to kick off the summer, and ended up finishing with tears running down my face. I wouldn't even classify this as a romance (if it was, it would be the slowest burn ever), it's just a really depressing journey through 6 months of Lou and Will's lives. The story dragged for a couple hundred pages, but I still enjoyed it a lot, though I probably wouldn't recommend it frequently.
There is probably something to say about the message Will's eventual suicide sends out to any disabled readers, but I don't know anything about assisted suicide/suicide amongst disabled people outside of this book.

A boek with the perfect mix between story and reality, sadness and happiness, love and not.
