I LOVED this book. It hits all my fears as a female scientist, but also my hopes. It makes me grateful I live now and not back then. Entertaining, emotional and fun.

I loved this book and loved the character Elizabeth Zott. This is a great representation of what women during that time frame and continue to struggle with in the world (certainty not to the same extent). There are great characters who steal your heart and you can't help but root for as they struggle through the ups and downs of life. I ADORED the chapters/insights from 6:30's perspective ❤️

Although a few things tie together in a nice bow, the strength of the cast of characters, especially our protagonist, and the themes of truth, change, and perseverance make this novel a crowd-pleaser.

Loved the chemistry cooking lessons, funny and fast-paced writing, main character who is clearly autistic but the writer doesn't know it was also a plus. The proselytizing for atheism, however, knocked off a star for me. It started as here and there but eventually expands to the point where it almost resembles a reverse PureFlix in how simplistic it's "atheism is the one true way and all religious people are either evil or stupid and the only good one is a secret atheist" moral was. I also found the supernaturally intelligent dog to be an odd inclusion.

Fast paced, excellent characters. A fascinating dive into being a woman in the 50s and in particular being a woman in STEM in the 50s. I really enjoyed the characters and each of their development. I didn’t necessarily like them all, but they had a lot of depth and felt like fully formed characters that I could offer compassion to and root for.

This book was pretty good. Not my favorite but I can see why it got so much buzz. The talking dog parts were too much for me.
