Woof this was so much worse than the TV show. Book belly is annoying af. Book Conrad is a total dick. Book Jeremiah is so much better all around. This felt way too YA for me and I found myself super annoyed.
Also, I know I'm not the target audience for YA but I think that even as a preteen or teen girl, I wouldn't have liked this book. Belly is so self absorbed- she's a terrible friend, a meh daughter, and has the personality of a whiny starfish. There's gross comments in this book about weight, female friendship, the value of romantic partnership, and a million other things. I would NOT recommend it as a coming of age book to a young woman.

so i read the book agen HAHA i gotta say i think the book and the series but has its own flaws and sexc moments but i gotta say that belly and the gang was less red flag-y in the book, but the story and side characters were more charming in the series. tho i love how it was portrayed in the show, EVERYTHING WAS BY THE BOOK and the parts that are not rlly contributed to improving the story line. i’d still give it a 3 tho simply bc i was hoping so see more of the other guy’s reactions in different scenes when we only got belly’s

I enjoyed this one as the first book in a series I think it sets the scene for what’s going to happen in the next two books very nicely.
