What a good read

I admit I was concerned that this book didn't have nearly as many reviews as most of the ones I read. I decided to take a chance anyway, and I'm so glad I did. This book had suspense, bullying, and some spice - all the things I love. I'm still wondering who the female main character can trust. It's hard to know with all the deception and lies. This book definitely ended on a cliffhanger and I'm glad I get to go right into book 2.

Holy crap

How much drama can happen at one high school? It’s non stop from the first page and just gets crazier each chapter

I liked the main characters but admit I did find Callie a bit frustrating at times.
At first I thought this would take the same route as a lot of the other bully romances out there, but although there is bullying I feel this story is going in a completely different direction

Before I begin my review for Rival (Briacliff Secret Society book 1) by Ketley Allison, I would personally like to thank the author, the publishers and Booksprout for the opportunity to read this ARC and I have reviewed it honestly.

Briacliff Academy. An elite educational home for the richest, smartest and meanest. A dark and intense story of bullying and a mean girl who'd put Regina George to shame, a steaming enemies to lovers affair and niggling secrets, Rival will keep you riveted from page one, and squirming in your seat to the very last word.

Rival features, but is not limited to, the following themes:
○ Bullying
○ Bully romance
○ Enemies to lovers
○ Boarding school
○ Mysteries and secrets
○ Contemporary new adult
○ Mean girls
○ Book boyfriends

My overall rating for Rival is...

5 stars!

This book is intense! The bullying was overpowering, the slow burn sexual tension unbearable, the secrets tantalising and the writing style addictive. Boarding school drama is just too damn delicious, even with the darkness and mystery trailing the tale. Let's not forget the smut and confident, cocky (literally) sex on legs we call Chase. I'll be having a Chase hangover forever! Overall I loved this book and the intricate themes scattered within, but I feel the brutal bullying could cause triggers for some readers.

This series is one of the best I’ve read in a while. The chemistry between the characters was off the charts, and the twists and turns of the plot were unexpected but in a good way. I wasn’t expecting such a suspenseful read that left me wanting more. I highly recommend this to anyone that enjoys a bully romance with a mystery!
