This book was validating but not very informative.

Really liked this book. As someone with endometriosis and adenomyosis I could relate to so many things she talked about. It was a little bit repetitive at times and almost read as though each chapter was written as it’s own essay and then put together without removing redundancies. Because of that there were certain tidbits and statements that I was getting a little tired of hearing.

Getting people talking about taboo topics like vaginal pain is so important and I applaud Lara Parker for doing it! I cannot imagine the courage it takes to do so publicly under your own name, and her work is meant a lot to me.

However, this book could have been stronger with an editor who trimmed more aggressively. This book could have been 50 pages shorter and stronger for it by trimming down some repetition. That said, I highly recommend you check it out, and might suggest reading it chapter by chapter as if these were essays, rather than all in one go.

I received an eARC from Netgalley and St. Martin's Press in exchange for my honest review.

CW: all things medical, death of a friend

I laughed, I cried, I felt so incredibly seen. I would recommend this book to literally everyone because you either have a chronic illness and can relate to so much of Lara's words, or you don't but you should read this so you can be aware of what folks experience on a daily basis.
