This was definitly stronger than the previous book in the series. The plot trucks along nicely, in a steady way, with some interesting surprises. I love how Lydia is developing as a person, and the secondary characters are a great addition. Although Emma was largely missing from this volume.

Hmm perhaps I shouldn’t have binged this. The tale has taken a turn that isn’t quite working for me or for Lydia I think. Of now I have to read the 5th one to hopefully get some resolution here.

Mystery mentioned on the cover copy doesn't turn up until halfway through the book, I skipped to the end to see if it was worth continuing and instead there is an utterly implausible resolution of the situation with Charlie.

In many ways I thought this was the best of the series. That said, I have enjoyed the whole series and found all 3 prior books worth reading. This one however, reached a new level in character development and pulled together threads from the last 3 books. The plot was solid and kept my interest and made me care about the characters and what would happen next.

I absolutely LOVED this book. I was so fortunate to receive an advance copy as part of Sarah’s Readers Club and I enjoyed every last word.

This series is going from strength to strength and even though I say this every time, this one was my favourite!
