Very superficial and predictable romance and fantasy, even though that’s indeed something i expect from a (real) YA fantasy, so yes
it was not for me bc it looked like there was the need to try to make the book be more than it actually is… and also bc i am a 27 yo reading a YA yk but even though i always try my best to rate taking that in mind

I was actually surprised by how much I wanted to continue reading this book. It's the kind of YA that is good to read at a later age and doesn't have childish 'I like him but does he like me???' teenage angst in it, although there's a bit of a romantic subplot/triangle thing going on. (One side kind of doesn't develop?) I don't know, you have to read the story to see what I mean.
So as Signa is an interesting character to follow (it's a pity that the family she ends up in is so broken), and the murder plot is so intriguing, I'd definitely recommend this book to both younger and older readers.

I picked up this book without reading the synopsis and was pleasantly surprised. The blend of mystery and horror was fantastic, and the story moved along at a compelling pace. The characters were intriguing and held my attention, though I felt the romantic element was a letdown. What was labeled as a romance felt more like a one-sided relationship.
