this book has a really intriguing premise: the gothic vibes, mysterious deaths, and Death as a character (mmc) drew me in at first 🌙🖤
however i think some plot twists were predictable and the writing felt a bit too plain; i was hoping for more atmospheric and beautiful writing, but end up a bit disappointed 🥺
i also think there’s some missed opportunities with the character development, especially FMC signa’s struggle with societal expectations and her longing to belong or fit in; these themes had so much potential but didn’t feel fully explored
and the romance part came a bit out of nowhere and didn’t make much sense to me; even though it’s interesting to see the type of relationship that this book depicts (which is between human and death), i think the amount of focus on it made it felt a bit forced and unbalanced, compared to everything else going on in the story
i didn’t enjoy the romance part at all sadly😔
overall it’s an ok read with a concept that interested me in the beginning ✨ but not as emotionally-rich as i hoped
its not a bad (or badly-written) read by all means, just not very memorable to me unfortunately🥹
