"The First to Die at the End" has a lot in common with "They Both Die at the End." This made it a fun and enjoyable read initially, but about halfway through, my interest began to wane, and I found myself pushing through the rest of the book.

Orion and Valentino are both lovable characters, but their storyline felt a bit predictable. The side characters, on the other hand, were a pleasant addition, and it was great to get to know their personal stories as well. This added depth to the narrative and made the book more engaging.

To be honest, I was somewhat relieved when I finished it.Silvera's writing style, however, is something I really appreciate. The book has a good flow, which is a significant plus.

I can already tell this book is not for me - I kinda liked the first one but this one is a tad cringe already and I can’t deal with that lol

I don’t know what to think about this book. I LOVED the first book but this one seemed pretty repetitive. Valentino and Orion are literally Rufus and Mateo, and it got kind of boring, especially with the same message as the last book. I was hoping to find out more about death cast, because that actually interested me more than the characters in this book, as they were pretty one dimensional, but it’s like the author didn’t even plan it out themselves??? Like the main reason i read this book was to find out how death cast worked and how they could predict death but it was just another dupe of two gay boys catching feelings too fast.
I wasn’t even sad when Valentino died, felt much sadder when Rufus died.
The two main characters got on my nerves so bad ESPECIALLY the chronically online way Orion talks. I never want to hear someone in a book say the word “facts.” again or cuss so much.

Much better than the first one. The characters were much more well defined and the story was more gripping. Heart warming and crushing!

Same as the first. I loved it and won’t be hearing any opinion that says otherwise.
