this book has not only blown me away for being a book written way back in the 1900's, but also the plot and friendships in this were absolutely baffling! George and Lennie's friendship honestly makes me respect George so much more for sticking around.
but dang it this was a real tear jerker...

Somehow I've gone my entire life without knowing what happens at the end of this story. I knew there was a twist, and yet I still didn't expect what happened. I'm still a little speechless. Steinbeck crafted the most fantastically heartbreaking story of loyalty and friendship and mercy that I've ever experienced. Read it.

Me pareció bastante interesante esta novela corta porque habla de varios temas como los prejuicios, la soledad, aislamiento, el valor de la amistad y me gusta como a pesar de ser corta sabe manejar unos personajes interesantes. No sé si esté sobreanalizando las cosas pero igual puedo ver como da tintes de críticas a la sociedad hiper individualista y capitalista de USA, teniendo al perro de Candy e incluso a Candy de ejemplos de como viven en una sociedad que se basa mucho en qué tan útil eres, en el momento que dejes de ser productivo, ya no tienes valor y te desechan, en donde todos los personajes se sorprenden de la amistad que tienen George Lennie, incluso varios piensan que George abusa de alguna manera de Lennie y no pueden creer que exista una amistad genuina sin intereses de por medio.

El lenguaje en este libro es simple por lo que lo recomendaría para alguien que está queriendo entrar en la literatura. Maneja varios simbolismos que a mi parecer cualquiera se puede dar cuenta como cuando Lennie mata a cada rato a animales como ratones o cachorros sin querer, sin maldad pero les termina haciendo daño, ya te da una predicción de qué acción va a hacer en el futuro. O el mismo personaje de Candy que es un reflejo del futuro que va a tener George si no ahorra dinero ni tiene planes a futuro.
