So many thoughts. Concept was great. You hear the story from Tom’s two lover’s perspectives (never his) which as the book neared the end got more and more frustrating. You also mainly hear from Marion’s perspective and she is a horrible, horrible woman. I wanted to slap her with my kindle.

I wanted to rate this 4 stars for the majority of the book because the ability of the author to honor setting (1950’s Brighton) and emotion (sadness, regret, longing) was great. However, there is so much left unsaid and so much you don’t know that it bothered me once I reached the end. Lots of questions but not in a good way. I have so many thoughts but don’t want to spoil it. The story felt unfinished, rushed, and sort of unnecessarily dramatic at the end. I am excited to see this as a movie because I think it can be really great.

I was really excited for this based off everyone's raging reviews but I was BORED.

I disliked Marion, I felt no connection to her at all. I found all of the characters were selfish causing me to not care for them and I ended up skimming a lot of parts.

I thought the book had a lot of "fluff" that was written into it that was unnecessary which caused the book to drag on, nothing interesting happened until more than halfway through the book.

I personally was not a fan of this book and do think it is overhyped. Saying that, I will still be watching the movie, hopefully it is not as boring.

What a jerk Tom is. That’s not a spoiler. He’s the only character I have no sympathy for. This book is thought provoking, feeling provoking and very well written. The story of three lives not fully lived and it’s all Tom’s fault.
