It was "just okay". A bit silly, but no more than I expected. I read it just for the distraction that most fiction these days can offer.

Fun, interesting read with a twist on the vampire story line that I quite liked. Enjoyable read.

With a book containing vampyres, Hollywood glamour and goth horror in my hands, I expected a whole lot. But I didn't get that much at all...
The story was very original and quite well thought through, but it didn't make it to shore without a scratch. Generally I had a hard time getting into the story and the characters, I didn't long for reading this, I just wanted to finish it (I still wanted to know what happened). Sure it was exciting and gory, a little too gory sometimes, but it was far from the best I've read. I love Hollywood, Hollywood stars and Hollywood glamour and I love vampyres, so this seemed like a perfect read for me. But it was quite an ok/meh experience.
I did love the humor though and sarcasm, but it wasn't enough to make up for the rest of the book. The language seemed very average and nondistinctive to me, the story wasn't heartracingly exciting and I didn't feel like I got close to the characters. But still, it was an interesting read! I liked it, just not that much...

Someone is murdering A-List Hollywood actors. They have worked at Anticipation Studio and they are all vampyres, creations of Ovsanna Moore, actress, writer, director, and majority owner of the studio. When Beverly Hills detective Peter King finds a fourth victim, a non-vampyre special effects artist, things heat up for Ovsanna. She cannot allow the dogged detective to discover the truth about the vampyres, leaving her no choice but to find the Vampyre Hunter first. Demands from fellow Hollywood vampyres worried about their own safety makes a time crunch.

The authors have rewritten both vampyre and Hollywood history in a way that totally works. There is humor, insider knowledge, and horrific crimes, as well as brilliant characterization. Since this has an alternating first person narrative, it is wonderful to see icons at the start of each chapter that will clue you in as to who is speaking, a great help.

I found particularly fascinating the various types of vampyres, not just those who grow fangs. Then there are the changes as they grow older in age. Age also deals increasing consequences when shape-shifting, an intriguing idea itself. We're also told which early stars of Hollywood are vampyres, including Orson Welles, Theda Bara, Mary Pickford, and many others.

I found this book on my library shelves and thought it sounded intriguing. I fell into this well-constructed universe almost from the first sentence. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys vampyres, Hollywood, or mysteries. 5 out of 5.

Quite enjoyed this book, but I could have used more. I know there is a 2nd book in the series but I'm not sure if it continues Ovsanna's story or not.

I LOVED this book. It lived up to all of my expectations (exceeded them actually) and made me smile. I hope this is a start of a new series, and can't wait for the next.

This book is for anyone who loves crime, mysteries, vampires and Hollywood.

Authors Adrienne Barbeau and Michael Scott have created a vivid world where vampires walk the streets of Hollywood - a place strange enough for them to hide out in plain sight and make lives for themselves among America's cinematic royalty. The characters are well-written and full of depth and dimension, and the story is dense with a creative mysterious twist. The pacing of the novel makes it impossible to put down until the very last word, and the dialogue is smart and witty.

Vampyres of Hollywood is fun, fun, FUN! It is full of gory good details and has a certain flair that sets it apart from some of the other novels in the paranormal/vampire genre. Vampyres of Hollywood is extremely entertaining. Full of suspense and clever little references to vampires and movies, Vampyres of Hollywood does not disappoint.

A neat concept, really poorly executed. Incredibly cheesy, really hard to read towards the end. The lead vampire character has a lot of flashbacks to various people and events in history that takes quite a bit away from the plot.

A little cute, a little gory, a little bit of a mystery-thriller and a whole lot of a love letter to Hollywood. Its not my usual type of book, but I loved it.
