One of my favourite comics series ever
I grew up with a huge crush on Amidamaru, probably because of how dedicated he was to his friends. A girl needs that in life. But putting my romantic thoughts for an animated character (of a ghost, no less) aside, Shaman King is one of those amazing series that shows real facets to people. Hands down, a must read classic.

*3.5 - Good starting volume and has beautiful illustrations. I feel like this is a series that is about to get interesting!

Did not like the art style and wasn't gripped straight away, I think I would prefer to watch the anime. It was a borrowed book too so didn't feel bad about putting it down.

Yoh Asakura isn’t afraid of ghosts. No, in fact, he calls them his friends!
See, Yoh is a shaman — meaning he can speak to ghosts and ghosts can possess his body if he allows it. By channeling ghosts, Yoh can assume their abilities and talents. For example, when channeling the ghost of famed samurai Amidamaru, Yoh is able to wield a sword with remarkable strength and skill.
Ultimately, Yoh hopes to become the fabled shaman king — the most powerful shaman alive. But, is he up to the task?
This is a super fun and spooky story! I’m definitely looking forward to reading more~

I have a really good feeling about this manga! The concept is pretty unique, art/drawing is great. And oooh! Really interesting characters, too!
Also, I think I've watched a few episodes (or maybe just the commercials) of the anime on Cartoon Network back then.
