This book gripped me from the first page, and didn't let me go until the end. It was fast-paced and atmospherical. While reading it, I felt caught up in the story, and cared deeply about the characters. The writing made me feel like I was in an intimate relation with them, floating just slightly above them, or curled up in August's head. I ached and hoped with him.
The novel tackles with important and difficult themes, and explores fully the complexity of the situation the characters face. I can't recommend it enough.
Aside from the story, the book in itself is a work of art, the color of its pages changing gradually, becoming closer and closer to black. It also has illustrations which help set up the mood, and original chapter titles.

Quests always have an ending, whether it`s a good one or a bad one. Always.
It was alright. Can't say I had some strong feelings while reading, but I enjoyed the story anyway.
It was interesting if a bit disturbing to watch a bunch of teenagers trying to deal with illness, codependency and love. They were honestly doing their best in the world where nobody cared.
At first I didn't really understand where the plot was going, but later I was intrigued to figure everything out. Also there's an element of (sort of) found family. And I always enjoy reading about that.
However for me personally the book was just okay. Feeling wise. But I don't regret reading it!

*screams into the void* jesus fuck this is too good, it also physically hurt me. Stabbing would've been nicer.
There is only one way to describe this book. Fucked Up. I am usually not one to use vulgar language in reviews but this is the best way to describe it. This book felt like a dream. Fuzzy and static but not quite a nightmare. The events and how they were stitched together would almost fool you into thinking they were normal. This is why I think K Ancrum has done something so barbaric yet wonderful. Every page made me infer different endings and compare relationships in between characters. I was always wondering who was gonna crack next. Highly recommend and beautifully done.
Also I just finished the book so this review might be edited because right at this moment this book has changed my state of mind.
