took me a while to read this because of a ridiculously busy semester … but it was SO worth the wait !!!
it is such an incredibly unique and devastating story while also having such a wonderfully comfortable format that makes the book easy to get lost in and double easy to attach urself to the characters

cw (from what i remember): codependency, arson, implied/desribed domestic violence/unhealthy relationships, parental neglect/abandonment, mentions of ed, heavvyyyyyyy on severe mental illness/mental health issues

i’ve never wanted a happy ending this much ever before.
i was so into it. i feel overly attached to August, it’s crazy. my head still hurts. my heart still hurts. i wanted to cry but my tears won’t come.
i’d recommend it to everyone (so y’all suffer too).

format was interesting and kept the story going at a fast pace, i appreciated the authors notes at the end to explain the concept more as it was a bit confusing at times, but still enjoyable and dark

This one definitely took me by surprise. The writing was engaging and compulsively readable, and the characters jumped off the pages for me. Plus, queer rep! I can tell that the author put a lot of care into the telling of this story. I know this book won’t be for everyone, but it really worked for me.

my friend naz recommended this to me after giving me a bookshelf tour of her lovely shelves (i miss those days) and I was quite intrigued. It was fast paced, intense and we got to see raw footage of teenagers really going through it. It was such a weird/whimsical read and i really loved that the physical pages got darker as the story got darker. I've never read a book like that! I definitely recommend this to cure your reading slump:O
