This is the first time I’ve read any of Woolf’s works, and I found myself pleasantly surprised by how quickly I got through the book. To be honest, I bought the book because it had a pretty cover, unaware of its contents. This book has managed to stay relevant years after its publication, and I found myself wanting to highlight many of the points she made. I’m not an annotation type of person, but I guess Woolf turned me into one. Honestly, it’s a bit frustrating to see how little progress had been made since Woolf wrote this book. At least that made this book extremely relatable, if nothing else.

Woolf’s writing style was a joy to experience as well. I love her digs at other writers and in-depth analyses into their work. I was never bored reading this book! I look forward to exploring more of her work.

I had read this in chunks throughout the years, but this was the first time that I'd dedicated the time to read from start to finish. Honestly, I'm not sure that I would have appreciated Woolf's ideas to the depth and intensity that I did now. This is as powerful in the contemporary society as it was when Woolf wrote it, and the narration of Juliet Stevenson was brilliant. Highly recommend.

It was extremely interesting to be informed about Virginia Woolf's opinions about women in relation to literature. Though some of the thoughts were quiet obvious or things one already knew or thought of before, she explained and explored them even further and it was still worthwhile to read these specific passages. There were also - at least for me - new ideas I haven't considered before or at least I didn't engage deeper in that particular thought.
There were also one or two miiiinor things I didn't quite agree with but the book is an essay and not a scientific work so these are ideas and naturally one doesn' t agree with all of them.

It is a wonderful book about an extremely important subject. I think every woman (and also man) who adore books and engage in literature should have read it once in their live.
