This is one of the best books I have ever read! This would also be an excellent book for a movie and should be one, and it should be way more popular than it is! So amazing! I am now reading it for the third time.

original review: really enjoyed this book! i don’t usually like realistic fiction but i picked this up from a bookstore because the cover art caught my eye and i’m so glad i did! its more of a book for middle school, or maybe a couple years younger but i think its a book most everyone could enjoy!

re-read: gosh, re-reading this book made me remember how GOOD it is. i love the writing style, i love the characters, i love this book. coyote is such a good main character and the ending is so sweet. all the other characters have good personalities and weren’t just ignored (which is hard to do with that many other characters.) all in all i would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes reading.

This book starts out slow but by the last 1/3 I couldn’t put it down. Be ready to do some crying at the end too. I am a mom so it might have hit harder for me than it would for a YA reader.

This book started slow for me, as I struggled hard with the parenting before I knew the backstory. But then it's all the best things: family, adventure, friendships, heartbreak. Full of hope and truth.

So, I won't waste your time absolutely raving about this book, but I will say that it was one of my favorite books, period. The main character is a 12 year-old girl named Coyote Sunrise with a dad named Rodeo. They live in a bus that's been kitted out as a makeshift home. They are constantly on the move for reasons the reader learns about slowly and with so much care. The folks they meet and pick up along the way are every bit as real as the main characters and the friendship that develops between Coyote and Salvador, especially, is so touching.

Coyote is so funny and quirky! She's very wise, sharing such truths as, "I don't care who you are, it changes the tone of a conversation if you can see each other's belly buttons." There are several times on the road that Coyote touches in with timelessness and presence, though the author finds a juv way of saying these things. The characters are so hopeful, as well: "...for the most part, human beings try to do the right thing, if they can see what that is". Important words to remember in tumultuous times.

I absolutely loved this book and I think you will, too. Just one question, though: what's your favorite kind of sandwich? =)
