Not the type of book I would normally gravitate towards reading and at the start I was definitely put off by the structure of witting with news article excerpts etc. But gradually got into it and became more invested, liked the sense of mystery throughout - though seemed a bit predictable that
everyone would die at the end
. I feel very wowed by Hollywood and it has made me think more about the media and press and celebrities.

My best friend and I have realized over the past couple years of our reading lives that I cry easily in real life, but hardly ever at books. The reverse is true for her: she hardly cries in real life, but all the time at books.

Well, I cried during this book.

I went into this book knowing there had been a lot of hype surrounding it but nothing beyond that. I was swept up in the story and fell hard for Evelyn. I feel like I can't say too much more without spoiling the story and the reveals along the way, but it was not at all what I expected, and I'm so glad I started listening to the Friends to Lovers podcast where they won't shut up about this book. :D

Audiobook. Fun, but I really only cared about the central love story and that could have been so much more in depth in my opinion. The framing story of Monique was compelling, but also too brief to really grab me.
