I've read the book back then when it came out and I'll be forever greatful to Stephenie Meyer for this amazing book series and the movies. I love all kinds of Vampires, doesn't matter if they sparkle or not ;) Twilight will always hold a special place in my heart.

I also have to mention that it's getting real tiresome how people are still riding the Twilight hate train, it's been 20 years. Give it a rest lol. The hate against anything that teenage girls enjoy has always been out of proportion and the book nor the movies have ever deserved this vitriol. Are they "cringe"? Maybe, but they are also just an interesting take on vampires and they weren't made for you, they were made for me :P Yes, me specifically. And all the other girlies who enjoy some fun time with broody vampires!

A teen deciding her own path, blindly falling in love, and still aiming to rescue everyone? Iconic.

For the nostalgia - and honestly, it holds up

I had only briefly tried to read Twilight before and gave up, but when my mother-in-law gave me the first two books for my birthday and the movies, I decided to give it a real try. I read this book in two days. Is it "good?" Good enough to keep going with the series. This is not as masterfully crafted as high fantasy books, but Meyer has interesting perspectives on how vampires would be integrated into the modern world. Was it a fun read? Somewhat. It's crazy how over the top Bella's clumsiness is told to us. I thought more would happen. The stakes feel inevitable rather than earned. Still, this was easy to get through and there are some interesting setups (the baseball scene is especially memorable), and I can see why this was so popular.

Ok, i don’t mean to sound like the basic book girlie but the book is WAAAAAYYYY better than the movie! while i was reading this book, i was wondering why kristen stewart decided to take the initiative to make bella the most awkward person that ever existed. bella in the book seems like your usual angsty teenager. i will never understand where she got the impression that she was so painfully awkward. however, there are a lot of parts of this book that i wish were in the movie because even though the acting was unbearable, i would’ve like to see how it would be interpreted. overall, i am team edward all the way! jacob; however, was not as unbearable as he is in the movies but that may get worse as i continue the series. for now, he’s ok. i really enjoyed this book and i’m excited to read new moon!
