Although there is some very interesting information in this book, it is dry as burnt toast and was a bit of a hard slog to get through. Worth it though if you have an interest in the content.

Such a fascinating read. And so important.

I do not know if I am reflecting more because where I am at with life professionally and personally; or the last book of Light Years on this #100YearsOfBooks journey - but this was special. In a simple but meaningful way. At times, yes, obvious, the selfish gene exists. But then, spending time with Dawkins and understanding where he is coming from it makes so much sense.

On life, on where we are, on urges, on where we are headed.

The selfish gene exists and I do not think there is a better understanding of society in....the 1970's.....or today.

Not a fan, it’s so indulgent! For example: “Trivers reels off five good ideas, but I find the following two of my own rather more convincing” ok. Plus there are too many footnotes! Flicking to the back of the book after each asterisk every 3 pages was a nuisance. Very nearly didn’t finish but I’m not a quitter.

The book puts across the message "Nature is bloody fascinating" very well.
