Ugh, ugh, UGH. I noticed some reviewers state that this was at least better than the Peru story, but at least that was somewhat entertaining and offered insight into Magnus's past/personality/etc. Not so with this one.
In some ways, I feel like this story is just lazy writing. One of the most important jobs of a writer is to make readers care about the story and the characters. Anyone who reads this already cares about Magnus Bane and will read the story regardless, so I feel like Cassandra Clare and Maureen Johnson (whom I happen to really like! I don't understand how she got involved with this crap.) just didn't put in the effort to make it good. This story almost ruined Magnus's character for me, and he is my favorite in the whole series.
The plot is ridiculously boring, and Magnus's love interest, Axel, is so much like Alec that it makes me want to slap the authors in their faces. That's another problem, I think: more than one author writing in one author's world. Style is lost, characterization is lost, and anything good that might have come out of the story is lost.
Good lord. If this is what comes out of the story about Magnus and Alec's first date, I don't know what I will do with myself.

Well this one definitely has lots of action although my only problem is that Magnus is focusing WAY TOO MUCH on Axel, like hello ur tryna help the royal family

I feel very distracted when I am reading these stories, they are not as exciting and thrilling as Cassandra's other stories yet..

*3.5 I thought this novella was much better than the first one. I enjoyed the Runaway Queen because it had a more organized plot rather than just a mashup of random stories like the first novella did. Overall, the story was fun to read but it didn't blow me away.
