What a fantastic debut novel!
I can’t believe this is Rosie’s first.
Well written with an interesting plot and some truly heart pounding action sequences, this felt more like a seasoned author’s standalone than a debut.
I’ll admit I got a little worried as it got closer to the end, thinking there wasn’t enough time to wrap things up in a nice bow (and I do wish Dane’s relationship arc had been given more page time), but the ending felt good and I’m happy with the way it came together.
Looking forward to more by this author!

I don’t need 4 pages explaining why she doesn’t try to escape anymore. And it’s still going.
This debut novel started off the bat going 100 mph, I swear my neck hurts from the whiplash. Madeline is our FMC and she has been through the wringer by the time we meet her (metaphorically and possibly literally?). This isn’t a spoiler because it is in the description, but if you want to go in totally blind, I guess stop reading now.
Mads is basically the Wolverine (a la X-men)of this universe, incapable of ever finding herself within the sweet embrace of death. When we met her and she started montaging her past 16 years at Omni, I was very hopeful that we would eventually learn how she came about this power/curse/blessing/predicament, if not at that time maybe by the end. Her entire backstory was absolutely captivating, and I think I could have been drawn in completely with just her story (this coming from a self proclaimed smut slut).
Then her men crash into her life (quite literally

Holy….
This book is deliciously dirty…. It’s full of suspense from the first chapter and electrically charged with the full meaning of spice from the second. I read it in less than 24 hours, and if I didn’t have to eat or deal with other humans I wouldn’t have put it down. My body is still humming from the tension.
The only problem with the book is there isn’t more and my s.o. Hasn’t read it

Look, it was super unrealistic and annoying. Like this girl who was a science experiment and basically sheltered her entire life and wasn’t even educated shouldn’t know so much about sex. She basically should have the mentality of a 9 year old, the age she was when she was taken. She literally in the book would be like I don’t know her this white stuff is but that’s a dick and I’m going to reciprocate pleasure whatever that means. The author tried so hard to make it sound like this character is so innocent and so virginal and clueless but it made it super creepy bc like I said the girl would be like I don’t understand what my body is doing or what parts are but yes this is sex and we should go harder and you should choke me and do whatever. I’m like ummmmmmmmmm how do you know this stuff how do you know what hickjes and the word clitoris is but not other things with it especially when she didn’t have access to education or books or anything like that. How does she know how to read??? Who gave her the talk??? She literally had sex for the first time and she was fine, which I guess some people are like that during their first time but idk most books don’t have it like that. I just feel like I have so many complaints about this book. The vibes were not there.

3.75 ⭐️! This story was so captivating! I really loved seeing Madeline’s growth and relationship with all of the guys grow over time. The backstory was so fascinating and I loved the dystopian elements.
We have Madeline, a “superhuman” for lack of a better term who has been kept in a private government facility for testing in “tanks”. In these tanks, they test her regeneration skills. Dane, Silas, Rayner and Tucker break Madeline out of this facility because they need her help with a mission concerning Dane’s past. Chaos ensues.
I want MORE. I want more backstory, more on Dane’s past (specifically the hard drive), more on Madeline’s “power” and more on the society in general. I feel like this could have easily been 200 pages longer and I would have eaten it up.
Overall I thought this had a really great premise and I look forward to reading more of Rosie’s work in the future. Crossing my fingers that this is a series and we get to know more about everything that happened.
*I was provided an arc in exchange for an honest review

This was a great sci-fi romance.
Madeline can't be killed, and because of that she was taken captive and researched on since she was a young child.
Dane, Tuck, Silas, and Rayner need her for a dangerous mission and rescue her, just to hold her captive as well. The relationships between Madeline, Tuck, Silas, and Rayner was really sweet. Dane and Madeline left me frustrated though, and this is why I rated 4 stars. It was slow going almost nonexistent and then rushed.
There was action and moments that kept me on the edge of my seat, my heart wanting to break. It really was a great story. Watching Madeline work through her traumas and train to fight for herself was wonderful.
The spice was great, but nothing intense or any kinks.
