I really struggled to get through this book. Probably because I just wasn't in the mood.
I enjoyed this book overall. As many first installments in fantasy series, it takes time for the author to lay out the appropriate amount of information about the new world the reader has just entered. As an avid fantasy reader, I thought Gaither did a good job of creating a world that was unique and interesting. There were definitely quite a few character clichés, but the plot was compelling enough for me to continue reading.

I couldn’t put this book down! I thought that a lot of descriptors for this book might have been far fetched when it came to like flawed but strong character, friendships, banter but it met and exceeded all my expectations!!
I really enjoyed the relationships between Sade, Kian, and Alaya plus Emrys and Alaya. The old relationships had enough build up to feel natural while the new relationship had just enough push and pull that you speed through the book because you’re so excited to finally see them get together!
I really hope that we find out more about Sade’s point of view or her thought process when it comes to her deciding to listen to the Bone Queen because it seemed like it was really out of character for her!

Such a fun and amazing read! I loved the whole story. The adventires and the way the MC slowslydiscovers herself and her power. Beautifully written!
