I enjoy listening to the Warrior cats audiobooks, but I definitely prefer the first series to the second. A lot of it has to do with nostalgia. Even though I read the second series soon after the first, the original cast of characters holds a special place in my heart. I also prefer the original location for the Clans, since that is the map seared most strongly in my memory. Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to hearing more of the second series, to refresh my memory and see my middle-school favorites in action!

This book started off a bit odd. It didn't have a nice build-up like the first series opener had, though it didn't really need it as we were well-established in the world, but it would have been nice. I know a lot of the background to Brambleclaw and Squirrelpaw were in previous books, one of them being a Super Edition so reading Firestar's Quest first would be a little bit helpful but not necessary to start the second series.

I read this once before over a decade ago, but I don’t remember the story very well. It’s almost as if reading it again for the first time. I really enjoyed the new settings and characters.
