This is a strange little story. The hardest thing for me to get around was not so much the somewhat odd mix of humor into a sometimes abstract and slightly non-sensical plot but rather the artwork. I can't tell if the mildly grotesque linework is some sort of intentional statement on the part of the artist - a visual representation of the existential concept of nausea? a technique to be sure the reader sees all characters strongly as "other" and are not inclined to identify too much with any one? - or just something that happens when, as you're learning cartooning, you learn to exaggerate features and you end up more on the side of 'gross caricature' rather than the side of 'overly cute'

Regardless, this is an interesting short work from an intriguing artist. I read this in its original 4 issue miniseries form, and didn't realize it had been collected. I'm not sure it's something I'll search out and buy in trade form, if that says anything to those of you who are avid comic readers and collectors.
