This book was a booktok fave and I was nervous about reading it. I didn’t want it to be overhyped. Welp. I genuinely gasped when the pieces started coming together. I read it in October for Filipino American Heritage Month because it was both spooky and written by someone of Filipinx descent! Luckily, Atlas Paradox just came out and now I can devour that one.

i personally really enjoyed it, but i can understand why people wouldn’t. could definitely have used another round of editing to tighten some things up—the writing was just so over the top at times it ended up being hard to follow. there were also a lot of things that were never explicitly explained, but somehow the reader was just supposed to get what was happening? but i think the characters were all interesting and unique, even if i didn’t end up caring about any of them.

The world building here is amazing, I enjoy magical realism slotted quietly into a contemporary setting. The shifting point of view really helps to move the plot along while keeping you from sympathizing and identifying too strongly with any single character. Each of the six main characters has good and bad points and the story does a great job of exploring them as three dimensional individuals while maintaining the intrigue of a secret society and all the drama you would expect from the chance to join a secret organization guiding the world’s leaders.

I really enjoyed The Atlas Six! It's fun, magical, mysterious, and a bit sexy too. I felt like Blake did a pretty good job balancing so many pov characters and making them all individuals. My biggest complaint (which really isnt that big at all) is that I wish there were a more complete narrative arc for the book. I realize it's part of a series and I definitely want to read on but this feels a bit incomplete.

Six magically gifted people are chosen but only five can make it into an elite secret society. One must be eliminated. A great dark academia novel that needs your full attention but it’s worth it!

This was a good book. The theme was dark academia. Wonderful read for the fall. <Spoiler> I would have like for their to have been more action. For instance, at the end I was like that’s it, but in almost a good way
. Overall, nice book and I recommend to those who like what is stated above.
