Carly talks too much about the same things and is very annoying. The ending is very predictable.

I don't read a lot in this genre (I ended up with a free abridged audiobook) and I wasn't impressed with this one. I didn't really care about the characters and the MC seemed to feel her way through the mystery on vibes alone, so it wasn't super believable or interesting. The sort-of(???) romantic subplot was super random and the ending was painfully convenient. Just overall meh experience.

I'm happy that after reading a complex, deep book, I can relax with a Mary Higgins Clark book.

they never fail to entertain.

I really liked this book. You can always count on Mary Higgins Clark to give you a story about a woman who is no detective, but still sets out to solve the murder of someone close to her. That doesn't mean they're all the same, though. Sometimes you know who the killer is all along, sometimes it's a total shock. Or, like in this book, you have a good guess, that's correct, but there's so much more to than just that one person.

I got this book as a beach read for my vacation, but finished it before I got to the beach. I read a bunch of Mary Higgins Clark in high school, and it was just as I remembered. She's very good at the suspense book with twist endings, and this would have been perfect for the beach.

Plot was slow and uninteresting, didn't care about any of the characters. Best of luck to Megan, who will read this gem next.
