Booktoks next frenzy!

This is one of those books that will have you by the edge of your chair the entire time! The emotional rollercoaster that I just went on was insane! Watching Rune and Gideon trying to outwit each other, to them unknowingly falling for the other, and then to them going back to hating each other is what makes this a great enemies to lovers to enemies again book. I can't wait to see what develops between then in book 2.

I will say, Cressida wasn't a huge shocker, but oh.my.god. Alex? Alex?!? ALEX?!?!?!?! I wasn't a huge fan about Alex and Rune's relationship since Gideon won me over right away, but the way I got teary eyed at the ending😭 ugh my heart!!

This was almost a 5 star read for me, and honestly it might be in a days when I reflect more on the story, but I gave it 4.75 stars just because a few of the chapters felt a bit repetitive with Rune/Gideon wondering what they can get out of this/is this person just using me/do I do this to my brother. Otherwise, a really great book, and I can't wait to see what is waiting for our Crimson Moth next!

Captivating is the best word I'd use to describe The Crimson Moth by Kristen Ciccarelli, a YA fantasy romance. This is the first book in an incomplete duology, and it was a fantastic read.

To help avoid confusion — The Crimon Moth is the UK title, while The Heartless Hunter is the US title.

The Crimson Moth is set in a Bridgerton-style world set back in a time when balls and carriage rides were a thing. It is told in 3rd person, dual POV and follows Rune, a wealthy socialite with a secret—she is the elusive crimson moth who has been saving witches from persecution—and Gideon, a witch hunter on her trail.

This story is packed with magic, mystery, and tension. I devoured it and loved Kristen Ciccarelli's writing style, world building, and character development. It gave me similar vibes and feelings to books like Divine Rivals by Rebecca Ross and Belladonna by Adalyn Grace.

I cannot wait to get my hands on the second and final part of this duology. That cliffhanger was heart wrenching but satisfying.

Wow….

The most criminal thing about this book is that it is a Duology and I have to wait for book 2.

I loved everything about this book. The story, the setting, the characters, the dual POV, the history and even the twist and turns.

The author does such a wonderful job of throwing you Red herrings, keeping suspicions high, questioning everything and hopelessly falling in love with the characters.

The dual POV was also done extremely well. It never felt like it had just been added for the sake of. Each chapter that wasn’t from the POV of the main characters, Rune Winters, felt like it was necessary and enriching to the story.

Definitely going to re-read when the second comes out to enjoy the world and story as a whole.

This book gripped me at the first few chapters. I was on the edge of my seat stressing through the Crimson Moth moments. I loved the duel POV (I love when authors include this aspect). Gideon and Rune are two broken hearts & soul who are inevitable. Can’t wait for the second book!!

Spoiler free

I snagged my copy from the Owl Crate February book box, and let me tell you, the ribbon and sprayed edges added such a delightful flair to the story! It's like someone took the time to read the book and make a magical connection with the colors.

I decided to dive into this adventure with a buddy read on StoryGraph, and trust me, it's worth every page-turning moment. Picture this: a YA romanticy enemies-to-lovers type of book that'll have your heart racing and your emotions soaring!

Despite being a bit older reader, I found myself totally engrossed in the character development. Sure, sometimes YA can make my eyes roll, but it also whisked me back to my younger years in the most nostalgic way possible. Plus, the flow of the book was impeccable, with just the right length of chapters to keep me hooked.

Now, I'll admit, a few events that popped up later in the story threw me for a loop, but overall, it was an absolute joy to read.

And guess what? I'm already counting down the days until I can get my hands on book two! 😏

I was completely blown away by this book. Unfortunately I cannot go into how much without giving too much away. Wonderfully executed. If you want something that engages a troupe and makes it better you are in for a ride. Fair warning this society is doing, and has done, brutal things to each other. It’s at times shocking and devastating. Definitely dark and dangerous. That ending crushed me. I cannot wait for the next one.
