3.5 stars -
This was the 1st time that I read this author, and it was a solid book. While it did feel a little bit long in parts, the chapters were really short, which made the book go by much quicker, and the family drama was very juicy! I love a good rich people being crazy type of book and this definitely brought that! Some of the plot points seemed entirely unrealistic, but to be more of a popcorn type mystery where you can't help but feel wrapped up in it none the less. I did guess the ending part early on, which dropped my rating some, but overall - it was still a fun ride!

I think that Such a Lovely Family is fine. It's the exact definition of a three-star book.
It's pretty forgettable, however, which is not really something you want people to say about your novel. There were a good amount of twists and turns, and it was pretty exciting to see the mystery unfold. This book also accomplished the feat of not allowing me to guess whodunit which is something that always impresses me.
There are a lot of characters in this novel, and they're decently well characterized. Specifically, they're all characterized as assholes. The only people that aren't are Nate, Denite, Cookie and maybe Renee? I don't really mind reading about rich assholes. It's actually one of my favorite genres, but the rich assholes in Such a Lovely Family are just so trash that you're happy when every single one of them (besides Nate and his fiancée) goes to prison.
Something that was actually really good was the set-up of why every single person wanted to kill the victim. He was so completely terrible that even I wanted to kill him.
Some of the twists were pretty good, and the writing was fine. There's just so little to say about this book. This review is one of the shortest I've ever written.
I'd recommend if you have an afternoon to burn, I suppose. I have no strong feelings either way. Mid.
