the narrator being unreliable really adds to the personal interpretations. the bacchanal and Richard not being there adds another layer to the lack of reliability in any of the characters take on what happens

I feel like I'd need to read this book another few times before really being able to articulate what I think about it. What I can say is that it's beautifully written.
I found it to be incredibly engaging, but it is driven primarily by the unfolding of the characters, so if you prefer things that are more plot heavy then it might not be for you.

Before you read this book, everyone tells you that it's so amazing- I didn't realize how true that statement is until I actually read the book. I am in shock, to say the least.
