This would have gotten 5 stars except for the unnecessary prison-rape joke at the very end.

"'So it will be like you still have them, the records.' Of course it would be nothing like that at all, as far as I was concerned, trading the original shellac-- on which the music actually existed, physically etched there by the very sound waves that had been emitted when it was played-- for a phantom digital version to haunt your MP3 player. But most people would go for the latter every time."

Almost a 4 star review. Felt it lost its way in the middle and couldn’t quite see where it was going but the twists at the end which I didn’t see coming were excellent. Will continue to read/listen to this series, Andrew Cartmel is an excellent writer who clearly knows his stuff and also writes a great tale with interesting characters and Finlay Robertson is an excellent narrator

It was fun, though a bit more dark in theme. I found it odd how tinkler went from lovable to burden. I liked it but it was the weakest in the series so far
