Laugh-out-loud funny. Another victory from Richard Osman!
This is the third Thursday Murder Club mystery and I feel like I've gotten into the rhythm of it. This is a world where the ex-head of the KGB is just a gentlemanly old man (ignore all the people he tortured/killed during his career!). In fact, like the previous book, everyone turns out to be polite and oddly friendly, even when they are trying/have tried to murder someone.
This mystery involves a young journalist who was killed while investigating a money laundering scheme. Her car went off a cliff but her body was never found. The Thursday Murder Club takes on the cold case, partly because it gives Joyce an excuse to talk with a local celebrity newscaster.
The normal hijinks ensue. Even more of our gang get paired up in romantic relationships. The mystery gets solved. No real surprises here; it's what you'd expect from this series: a cozy mystery about a group of plucky retirees.
