I'm starting to see a big difference between romance books and books with romance in them, and am realizing that I tend to prefer the latter. I went into this book expecting it to a typical lighthearted rom-com, and was pleasantly surprised that it was more than that.

Kailyn and Dax first met in law school, where they were friendly rivals. Their relationship was ruined, however, when Dax seemingly let her down in a major way. Years later, Kailyn finds herself face to face with Dax, who needs legal advice about a custody battle involving his 13-year-old sister, Emme. Kailyn's boss, Beverly, uses this as an opportunity to have Kailyn convince Dax to leave his current law firm and join theirs. If Kailyn persuades Dax, she'll be made partner.

The more time Kailyn spends with Dax and Emme, the more she realizes how much she's grown to care for them, and the chemistry she and Dax had years ago is still clearly there. She has to step back to see if she is in over her head.

Ultimately, this is a story of family, sprinkled with some romance, which is an ideal balance for my tastes.

Nope. No thanks.
I didn't know my eyes could roll that far back into my head.

It’s just… covertly sexist? Slut shaming. Body shaming. Purity… glorifying? What. Okay maybe not covertly.

The plot is fine I guess. But yikes. There are so many better romance novels, so 1.5 stars?

Not a bad book, maybe it was the writing style? I found myself skimming the last 1/3 of the book. Kailyns character wasn’t fully fleshed out and her stance on adoption isn’t something I agree with/ maybe it was worded flippant.

It was a good read, but predictable and nothing special for me

Super cute story. If you liked The Kiss Quotient, you’ll love this book too!

Found myself laughing and smiling along with the book and basically devoured the second half in one sitting.

I did not connect to these characters at all. I couldn't get into the story. After hearing the first chapter on a podcast I was intrigued but I couldn't get over the ethical issues of this book. They bugged me too much to finish.

Meet Cute was a sweet book, but a bit heavier content-wise than your typical contemporary romance. I’m glad I had a heads up going in because the title does not fit the story at all. I did enjoy it though. I’m a sucker for a happy ending.

A bit predictable, but well written and enjoyable nonetheless.

I hate it when a big theme in a book is when knowledge is kept hidden that could have easily been revealed and not have been a big deal at all. Especially when given multiple opportunities to just come clean.
