DNF. I'm not sure if it was the translation I read, or if it's the author, but I was not such a fan of these poems.
emotional medium-paced

Penetratingly beautiful, these poems pierced to the depths of my soul. Their analogies and references felt obvious yet unexpected, natural yet ingenuitive. By the end, I was nearly weeping. I am so thankful for the inclusion of both the original Spanish and the English translation in this collection as I don't think I could have felt the fullness of the poems without experiencing the original versions.
inspiring reflective sad tense medium-paced

I had to take a break after reading some of the lines in his poems.

Some of them made me feel SO MANY things at once that it was overwhelming— "So That You Will Hear Me" "Leaning into the Afternoons" "We Have Lost Even"" and "Almost out of the Sky"

Some of them, though, made me feel uncomfortable and they just felt disturbing and wrong. Poems such as "Every Day You Play" and "I Like for You to Be Still"

“I want To do with you what spring does with the cherry trees.”

“I am no longer in love with her, that's certain, but maybe I love her. Love is so short, forgetting is so long.”

“And I watch my words from a long way off.
They are more yours than mine.
They climb on my old suffering like ivy.”

“You swallowed everything, like distance.
Like the sea, like time. In you everything sank!”

La oreja de Van Gogh nos coló una referencia a este libro y nosotros tan tranquilos.

(Pd never forget a OT20 y su “Que sabrá Neruda”)
