There's a huge problem with this book... once you start you can't put it down!
At first I thought it was going to be confusing, jumping from date to date, but it soon settled down and was immensely readable. The two strands gradually came together so you could see how the confident outgoing Cathy came to suffer with OCD.
I had this on my Kindle app but had to really stop myself from reading it because I knew once I started it would be "just one more chapter..." and then an hour or two would whiz by.
Highly recommended.

Whoa! Only about 40 pages in and it has really grabbed me! Our heroine has ocd, and our villian is a serial killer. That's really all I can say without spoiling the chills.
This was really good. I waited too long to write the review and now don’t remember details.
The fact that this book begins like almost every romance books gives me shivers.
I thought this book did an excellent job showing how people end up staying in abusive relationships. Although most relationships wouldn't end up this extreme, it's not something people walk into knowing how toxic their relationship is actually going to be. Once you're in a situation like this, it's hard to walk away. It happens gradually, not all at once.
As someone who as OCD, I also found myself relating to the main character. I'm thankful mine is not as extreme as hers, and this was a bit of a reminder to be careful about how much I indulge in my own compulsive tendencies so that I don't get carried away.
I appreciated that Haynes wrote this on a dual timeline. I think it added a nice element to the story, to see what she's like 4 years apart. It leaves the reader wondering why she's changed so much over the course of 4 years and also why we're picking back up with her 4 years later.
I felt like the climax could have been a little better.

Bought this while on holiday, thinking it would last me the week. I was wrong - finished it in two nights! Loved it. Just goes to show that straightforward writing and storytelling CAN be successful. No need for gimmicks here.
Stunning debut novel. Made me paranoid to the point where I wanted to check my locks & become a bit OCD about it as well. LOVE, LOVE, LOVED it. Pretty close to being on par with Karin Slaughter as one of my new favorites!
4.5/5. This book was so intense and suspenseful. Definitely kept me on the edge of my seat...my palms were sweating!! Although you know that something bad has happened between Cathy and Lee, the 2 timelines helped their history unravel slowly. I also appreciate the pretty accurate portrayal of OCD, PTSD and mental health treatment (the good and the bad), and I loved that, although Stuart was supportive of Cathy, he was not the"cure" for her mental illnesses. She did the work on her own to overcome her fears, anxieties, and trauma. Also a good, accurate portrayal of a violent, controlling, manipulative relationship and some good insights into why victims have difficulty leaving (i.e. cycle of abuse to the honeymoon phase, threats, isolation, etc.). Outstanding read, and I'm eager to read more from Elizabeth Haynes!
I can't pick stars for this yet. I liked it but I wouldn't say it's amazing. The book was creepy. The subject matter was disturbing but the author wrote about it well. It's hard to judge how many stars to give it right now so I think I'll let it fester for a while.
Started reading this on facebook and had to see what happened next. Checked it out from the library and stayed up until 6 this morning to finish it. I particularly enjoyed how she ended the book and that she didn't take the easy way out.
