Wow! Intense and gripping. I was almost reading it with my eyes closed. Written from a then and now perspective, both stories have gripping syorylines that kep you reading. Even tho you know how story one turns out, the suspense is still extremely well created. An interesting insight into OCD and domestic violence.

An utterly chilling thriller, the hairs were standing up on the back of my neck and I was glad I was reading this book on my holiday and not alone at night...

This was such a powerful and emotional read that I easily got through within a 24 hour period. Catherine's story was so tragic and seeing her gradually turn into a shell of her former wild and carefree self was heartbreaking. I felt Haynes did an excellent job of portraying the extent to which a person's anxieties can take over their life, in particular focusing on just how much somebody can get into your head and remain there long after they're out of the picture. I felt for Catherine so much and found her development as a character very satisfying - not to mention that of her new relationship with her neighbour Stuart which I reallly enjoyed seeing grow. Overall, a brilliant book!

FANTASTIC thriller! Not for the faint of heart.

I listened to the Audible version of this book.
There were parts of this book I didn't love. There were sections meant to build up the tension that were long, and then when we were back in the present, sections were action was happening were over much too quickly. If I was an editor, I might have suggested switching the proportions around.
One thing I loved was that the author clearly did her research about OCD and PTSD. I'm in a mental health field and it drives me crazy when an author drops a mental illness onto a character but doesn't base the symptoms or treatment on anything real. On the other hand, I did feel like the descriptions of Catherine's symptoms and treatment were perhaps overly in-depth.
Overall, this was a thriller and it was hard to take breaks because I was so tense and just wanted to know what would happen!

This book had a great example of a protagonist with OCD, anxiety attacks and PTSD. It really made me feel exhausted just reading about the character having to check everything, I couldn't imagine actually living it.

Great thriller, which thankfully didn't decide to veer off into the same predictable direction so many of them seem to do these days. Good, distinct characters and a believable - if chilling - plot.

A page turner with some interesting twists, but fairly predictable, and it felt that the ending was rushed.

I read this during vacation and found it hard to put down. I thought that there were a couple of problematic plot points, but I still really liked this book.

Definitely a thriller and a bit graffic, but made me want to keep reading all the way to the end.
