There is so much suspense here, it gets quite scary! This makes you think about relationships and trust. Very exciting!

I give this one 5 out of 5 stars. The author truly has a knack for the genre. She's really good at dragging out the suspense and keeping you turning the pages.
The story was interesting but the hype of the book made me overestimate the plot prior to reading it and the hype ruined it for me a bit.
Some truly disturbing passages, yet this book was an excellent reminder to all of us that we don't always know what's on the other side of the white picket fence.
This book was very unsettling to read, but so fascinating. Haynes does a great job of showing how living with OCD is not some cute "quirk" but actually debilitating at times. The main character grows throughout the book (tho we are shown two different timelines, her before and after, switching off every chapter) so we see her before Lee, during Lee, and then after Lee.
It's a very dark and graphic book that even at the end, doesn't really leave you feeling overly relieved. Would I recommend it to just anyone? No, because at times I felt a little sick with what was going on. But it is a beautiful and well written thriller? 100% yes. Just know that there is a lot of violence, rape, and consensual sex in this book, and large sections that will leave you frustrated over a victim of domestic abuse who no one seems to believe.

i could not put this thriller down!! i was very invested and liked the main character so the stakes were very high. i liked the different timelines, and felt it was a really good portrayal of the descent into domestic abuse and violence
This book was strange in the beginning, but I soon fell in love with it. It kept me on the edge of my seat, although there are many books like it.
After the first few pages you work out how this book has been written - which then makes it very readable. The book tells the story of Catherine/Cathy four years apart, when she was a confident, bubbly party-girl and then when she is a nervous introvert with severe OCD. Both stories go along together so that you can see what's happening to her at both times.
What caused the change in her was meeting the wrong guy who turns out to be a charming, yet brutal, man who has everyone believing he is Mr Wonderful.
I feel bad putting this in the chick-lit genre as it probably should be a psychological thriller. It's easy to read (albeit quite uncomfortable to read at times) and a very well told story.
