Didn't like it. The premise was very odd to begin with (Grandma told me a life isn't worth living unless I kiss someone 1000 times?) - and the characters were so annoying and unlikeable that I actually was glad for the ending. I forced myself to finish the book because I had predicted how it was going to end and oh my god I was right, but it was still awful.

The author tried so very hard to make this a tragic star-crossed lovers story but Rune was the most annoying, misogynistic, selfish brat. Meanwhile, Poppy had literally no personality and was "not like other girls." They had zero chemistry and their whole relationship was forced because they were childhood friends?

The entire conflict during the time skip was such garbage too. Hated both characters and how they acted.

I didn't think it was cute or romantic or anything. Don't waste your time.

I liked the concept of this book, needing to fulfill a thousand boy kisses as her mamaw's final adventure. With that in mind, I found the story to be a little dragged out and I honestly struggled to get through some of the book with some chapter being very long and the pacing of the book being rather slow.

I adored the love shown by both Poppy and Rune. Some quotes are stunning but I did find alot of the writing to be very sappy/cringe at times personally.

I also found that Rune was a bit immature in his behaviour and actions when things didn't turn out how he'd like. However, I loved how much he cared for Poppy and the lengths he went to make her happy.

I did end up crying within the last 20 pages, but I wasn't bawling.

At times this book can be a bit quirky — some situations you sort of have to suspend your disbelief. How teenagers manage to pull off a few scenarios with limited finances & minimal consequences makes you wonder. But if you don’t think too hard about it it’s a cute story nonetheless. At times, I felt myself thinking the couple sounded way too mature but I think given the circumstances maybe they would be forced to mature a lot faster than their peers.
But let me just say, what was that epilogue — criminal 😭 Tillie, you got me messed up 💔
