This was so cleverly written and fascinatingly odd. My big thing is that, while I was super invested in Hazel, I couldn't bring myself to give one fuck about Jasper, and a lot of the story was told through his POV.

I can't explain why I liked this but I kinda did

This book is a wild ride. I went in expecting a humorous account of a woman with shitty relationships and ended up wondering if I’ve ever read such a weird book (I have). This is fun if you enjoy awkward humor - and it is awkward. There are sex dolls, dolphins, and greasy men wearing skin tight leather. If you decide to read it for a laugh, I advice you do so with an open mind. The characters aren’t exactly lovable, but that’s part of the charm.

I'm not even in the "well written, but too weird" camp on this. I didn't think this was an interesting or well written book, unfortunately. I think I am just not the target audience. Gave up halfway through. Hopefully I'll come back and see how foolish I was. Bleh

It's strange and kind of really bananas, but I'm here for (most of) it. I enjoyed the HBO adaptation much better, though, but it's kind of fun to compare and contrast the two.

A romp through the absurd, to be sure. Nutting makes for quite the guide in the over-teched and under-controlled world of Gogol.
Sideline: given all the unfortunate press Elon Musk has received in the last year, it wasn't hard to envision him as "Byron." That can't be coincidence, right?
